The Norwegian soprano Ida Gudim holds a master in opera from The Norwegian National Opera Academy in Oslo. She also holds a master in classical song from The National Norwegian institute of Norway, and a bachelor in classical song and opera from Barratt-Due music academy in Oslo.

Ida sung her first performance at The Norwegian National Opera & Ballet in 2013, interpreting the role as Mrs. Chan in the modern opera AD UNDAS by composer Øyvind Mæland. During her time at the Opera Academy she performed roles such as COSI FAN TUTTE/Fiordiligi, DAS RHEINGOLD/Freia, DIE CSARDASFÜRSTIN/Sylva Varescu, SERSE/Romilda, THE RAKES PROGRESS/Anne Truelove, and L´INCORONAZIONE DI POPPEA/Poppea, working with directors such as Stefan Herheim, Jacopo Spirei and Jörg Behr.

Since then she has worked at houses such as RingsakerOperaen, interpreting the roles of DER FREISCHUTZ/Ânnchen and PIMPINONE/Vespetta, and DIE LUSTIGE WITWE/Valencienne for Opera di Setra. At The Kristiansund Opera she has sung both IL TROVATORE/Ines and the title role in DIE CSARDASFÜRSTIN/Sylva Varescu. Other engagements include being a soloist with the Norwegian Wind ensemble, performing the role of THE RAKES PROGRESS/Anne Truelove at the Oslo Opera festival, and singing Mozarts Great Mass in C minor (K.427) at the Mozart festival with Trondheim Symphony Orchestra.

Ida has won several grants and scholarships including Statens Kunstnerstipend, Sine Butenschöns stiftelse, DEA Musikstiftung Norwegen, Fegerstens Stiftelse, Oslo Kommune and Skipsredder Tom Wilhelmsens Stiftelse.

Gudims whole-hearted effort transforms the worn-out ‘coquettish seductress with a French accent’ template into a convincing comic character, and her singing is equally convincing.
